Donations - Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving

The payroll giving scheme allows you to give tax free to us straight from your pay. With effect from October 2000, the Government will add a further 10% to any donation you make. This means if you pledge £10 from your gross pay, the cost to you is only £7.80 but we will receive £11.

The Scheme

Payroll Giving is a simple, tax effective way to give to charity from your pay. Giving regularly to your favourite charitable cause is an excellent way to help others. Providing that your pay or pension is taxed through Pay As You Earn (PAYE) and your employer is registered with the scheme it could not be simpler. You authorise your employer/pension office to deduct regular charitable donations from your pay. Your employer then pays these donations to a Payroll Giving agency approved by the Inland Revenue. The agency then distributes the money to charity or charities of your choice.

The Law as it Currently Stands

There is no longer an limit on how much you can give through the scheme - you can give as much as you like in any one tax year and it doesn't affect any other donations you wish to make.

The Benefits to You...

The agreed deductions your employer makes from your pay are done before you pay tax, which means that you get tax relief included in your donation at your top rate of tax. Look at the table below and see how simple it is.

The Benefits for Your Charity...

Payroll Giving creates a regular flow of funds for the benefit of the charity or charities of your choice. As the table above shows the donation that you make will be worth much more to the charity than the actual amount you give.

Choice

You are free to give to any organisation of charitable status including
t he Falklands Veterans Foundation. Charity Number 1094950.

Confidentiality

Names and addresses of donors are made available to the
Falklands Veterans Foundation by the Payroll Giving Agencies. We will always try to make a special effort to thank you for your donation and encourage support but can assure you, your name and address will not be sold or given to any other organisation.

Cost Effective

All Payroll Giving Agencies generally make a deduction of between 0 and 4% from your contribution to cover the cost of administration. The amount of the deduction depends on the method by which you choose to give. Some employers cover the cost of administration for their employees.

Matched Giving

In some cases, your employer may match your donation either on a one-off or regular basis. Please check with your employer to see if they are prepared to do this in your case.

Ministry of Defence Scheme

It is open to all Service personnel and civilian staff both industrial and non-industrial . Those individuals in receipt of retired pay administered through Paymaster (1836) Limited may also take part in the scheme.
